Belize – Spring Break 2007

Belize Map

Here’s the plan:

Depart ATL DL4507 – 12:55pm Friday 3/30, arrive BZE 1:51pm  Return BZE DL4506 – 2:40pm Friday 4/6, arrive ATL 7:33pm

30 minute taxi ride from Belize City Airport to the Swing Bridge Marine Terminal. Then a Water Taxi to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, takes an hour or so. We’ll be met by Alberto at the San Pedro town dock and taken by boat to Casa Blanca Mata Grande.

We have one floor of the house, and will be at Casa Blanca for 5 nights. While there we’ll sleeping late, suntan, take boat rides out to the reef and smaller islands and go snorkeling. Claire’s older sister Gretchen has been to Belize twice and she insists there is great snorkeling here – sea horses, manatees, sea rays, coral. We’ll eat out for dinner a few times, and make breakfasts and lunches at our place.

Some time on April 5th we’ll take a water taxi to Caye Caulker where we’ll stay at Seaside Cabanas.  Caye Caulker is smaller than Ambergris Caye and even more laid back, if that’s even possible.

Then, all too soon, on Saturday afternoon April 6th we’ll take our last water taxi, this time back to Belize City for our journey home.

A day on the lake

Almost every weekend  we spent a good part of a day on Lake Lanier.  Lake Lanier is an hour north of Atlanta and depending on traffic 20 to 30 minutes from our home in Alpharetta.  Boat traffic can be hectic at times, especially on holiday weekends, but for most of the year it’s very easy to find an isolated cove and a sandy beach to spend the day.
